Yesterday, I replaced a very mundane part on the S2000 which had worn out. 100 billion Oppo points to whomever guesses the part...
Hints:
not S2000-specific
about $35
Updated hint:
Single OEM part; aftermarket versions often don’t work
Annnnd the answer is:
pip bip - choose Corrour

No, although those are also wearing out. To me anything chassis-related is actually pretty exciting :D

I’m going to go with something like a A/C control knob or a blinker stalk. Maybe a door handle

Are we still guessing? Or is it the fuel cap that you have pictured above? I confuse

Fuel cap is the answer. Was throwing a CEL and the gasket had a crack, although the light hasn’t gone off in a few cycles the way it’s supposed to allegedly. I retightened it; we’ll see tomorrow.

Also make sure the fuel neck mating surface is clean, maybe a little scotchbrite scrub and even a bit of vasoline or dielectric grease wiped over that surface to make sure it seals properly.

I had an 01' Civic that did the same thing - failed emissions. Came back later that day with a new cap from the dealer and voila. I have no idea how a fuel cap can “fail”.

In my case I can visually see where the gasket on the old one is cracking. Also could be because I was out of state last week and filled it myself; in NJ it’s all full-serve by law, so I rarely pump my own gas.

ugh - Oregon is like that too, (let me pump my own gas...)

Phew; I tightened it down, and now that the engine’s cycled a few times the CEL finally went out.
